LO-MASS® Systems

Sanitary Porcelain

Lavatories, tanks, toilets, bidets and shower bowls are fired or refired at temperatures around 1250°C, either in batch kilns or in continuous tunnel and roller hearth kilns. Due to the heavy weight of these items, high strength and creep resistant kiln furniture is required.
Saint-Gobain Ceramic Materials delivers complete kiln car construction comprising the LO-MASS® superstructures made of our premium advanced SiC products: siliconized Silit®SK, recrystallized Crystar® 2000 and nitride bonded Advancer®

SGIK Lav Rings   Our unique LO-MASS® concept, includes beams, stringers, batts, various supports, multi-lug posts, lav rings, bowl and tank setters. The multi-lug posts system designed to fit into the kiln car base allows flexibility in shelf height so various-sized items can easily be fired on the same car

The LO-MASS® kiln furniture system reduces fuel cost, lowers ware rejection, reduces finish and grinding costs and maximizes use of kiln volume. The high strength, low mass and thermal properties of our bowl and tank setters, make them a superior choice over cordierite setters. They retain their shape over their extended service life resulting in flatter post-fired items. The high thermal conductivity of the SiC based setters means fewer bowl and tank stress cracks occur during firing and cooling.
Our bowl and tank setters can be manufactured with a mullite coating to lower air borne wash contamination during firing.

Siliconized SiC Silit® SK rollers are widely used in roller hearth kiln applications.

In some traditional firing applications, posts and spacers made of AnnaCorit Cordierite or AnnaMullit mullite may still offer a good economic compromise.
